<< Garuda Project '03>>
The UMEX hold the Indonesia seminar called Garuda Project '03 as the first
collaborative project with IUJ students of this year on April 12, 2003
at the community center in Yamatomachi called Hataraku-Fujinno-Ie and had
a great success beyond our expectations.
The purpose of UMEX is to learn various cultures and backgrounds through interactingwith international students who come from over 50 countries. We set a goal gTo deepen mutual understanding between IUJ students and UMEX members through collaborative project" for the fiscal year 2003.
We prepared for the project beginning in February. About 70 people participated
and the Indonesia ambassador to Japan thankfully offered Garuda statue
and various literatures on that day.

In the event, several workshops were held such as basic Indonesian language
class, Indonesian cooking class, lecture on Indonesian tourist industry
and gPoco-Pocoh dance class.
Voice of participants as follows,
EIndonesian students were enthusiastic to spread their culture to Japanese.
I was impressed by them and had a very good time.
EIt was worthwhile hurrying to site by car from Niigata on that day. I
have enjoyed learning Indonesian, although the luncheon had already finished
when I arrived at the venue. Thank you for all and gTerima Kasihh
EIt was excellent experience that made me understand more about Indonesian.
I feel like speaking Indonesian more. Thank you for all who were involved
with this event.
EI enjoyed all day long! The best thing about UMEX is that we can learn
different culture even living in UONUMA. gTerima Kasihh
EI could learn a lot especially in Indonesian conversation course. Hopefully
I would make use of this experience as a Japanese instructor.
EIt is a wonderful thing to know how to greet someone in Indonesian as
well as in English.
